Cat Grooming Brush
Clicker training for cat grooming?
My Maine Coon kitten six months old will not be brushed or combed. As soon as I touch him with a brush he rolls on his back and grabs it with teeth and claws. I know clicker training a bit, you reward when the cat does what you want, but he reacts instantly so I can't get in even one brush stroke to show him what I want. Can anyone help with advice, please?
I don't really have anyone to help - unless I can persuade a friend to come round every day!
My cats do the same thing (fortunately for me, though, they are short-haired and grooming isn't as necessary). I usually let them play with and chew on the brush until they get bored with it - then start brushing (I'm too lazy to actually clicker-train them - I'm impressed that you are willing to do that!)
You could try giving him treats first and brush him while he is eating them (that will work as long as the treats are something he likes so much that the brush won't distract him from them).
Or you could be really lazy like me and try either
