Grooming Hair Bows
Cross Stitch Jar Lids are a quick and easy gift especially for co-workers. You can place just about anything inside the jar. Some ideas are:
* Candy
* Small Soaps
* Potpourri
* Quotes or Sayings
* Coffee, Cocoa or Tea Packets
* Tea light or Votive Candles
* Dog or Cat Treats
* Baby Grooming or Baby Travel items
You can even use a "Gift in a Jar" Recipe and top it off with a cross stitch picture for an extra special touch! They are quite easy to make and I want to share with you how I make mine. You can purchase a puff up kit but I find they are a bit pricey so I decided to make them differently. Decide on which type of theme or picture you would like to stitch and make sure that it will fit in either a regular or wide mouth jar lid.
You will need:
* Jar of your choice with a lid and ring
* Cross Stitch picture to fit
* Poster Board
* Quilt Batting
* Adhesive Sheet (usually found near the scrapbook section)
* Ribbon
You should be able to purchase all of these items at your local craft store or online.
Instructions:
Using the flat piece of the lid as a pattern, cut out a circle of poster board and adhesive. Using the ring of the lid, trace the inside part on the quilt batting and cut out. This will make your piece puff up a bit but not too much.
Layer your pieces as follows:
Place the adhesive circle on top of the poster board circle. Center the quilt batting on top of the adhesive. This should leave a small border around where adhesive shows. Then, place your cross stitch on top and cut the edges that hang over the poster board. With this type of adhesive, you can easily remove and center your cross stitch piece before cutting. You can then place the cross stitch piece into your lid and put it on the jar. Add ribbon for a finishing touch. Some also like to add lace or raffia.
