Why does my dog bite and licks her paws?
My dog always chews on the bottom of her paw then licks it. She has been doing this alot lately. I check her paws and she does not have any dirt or rocks that could be irritating her.
I have a dachshund.
All dogs lick their paws. Sometimes chew if they have an itch. but in your case, the dog is suffering from allergies. Most likley from grass. She can still go in the grass, its not like she will die. But at night, fill a bowl of water or fill up the bath tub just enough so it goes up past her paws. Soak her in the bath (just the paws) for about 3-5 minutes. This washed all of the the grass allergies off and should improve it. It wont stop her completely, but it will help. You can also get NON-scented baby wipes and wipe her paws every night (when shes in for the night). It is good to so this every night or else her paws will get nasty. Dogs get to the point where they loose hair and then they develop yeast infections in their paws.
