Sometimes grooming your pet can seem like a chore. Other times it seems like a joy. Other times you get REEEEALLY wet! Wasn't it the dog that was supposed to take a bath?
Everyone should groom their dogs and cats. If you don't yourself then you will want to take them to a professional. Professionals can be found at kennels, pet stores and sometimes through your veterinarian.
For us, we like to take care of it ourselves. This started when we paid someone to butcher our Japanese Chin. My wife said heck I could do that good. She bought a set of electric clippers for just a little more than we paid to get the trim and we have never paid for a trim again.
Honestly one of the biggest problems we have is trimming our Chin's toenails. Most of them are black and it makes it difficult to see the quick. Sometimes we let the vet trim his nails. Next thing you know out comes the styptic powder. They don't seem to have any better luck than we do. I'm getting pretty good at trimming our Red Lored Amazon parrot, but that is another story.
We are lucky, our pets are pretty well trained and take hair trims, nail trims and baths pretty well. It is easier for me because I let my wife do most of it.
We don't have a grooming table. That is mostly reserved for pros. Nor do we restrain our pets. Occasionally I may have to help her with a couple of our more stubborn pets.
The Japanese Chin takes to the bath just fine, it is our Siberian husky that is a handful. Heck he is over 100 lbs and is strong as he can be. Once again, he is so good natured and we have our bluff in on him. He could tear your arm off if he wanted to, but he doesn't know that and I'm not telling him.
We have your ordinary toolkit of supplies, brushes, combs, electric clippers with different blades and guards. When it is really cold we blow dry off the dogs and we rarely bathe the cats, but do from time to time. They are indoor kitties only. The husky is a dirt mover. He digs holes the size of a microwave. And if it is raining...well....you might want to leave him outside until he dries off.
But my wife just throws down an old sheet on the floor to catch all the hair, nail trimmings and so on. Then when she is done she can grab all the hair she can and stuff it in a trash bag or trash can. Then outside we go, shake the sheet and fold it back up.
Look around our website and you will find TONS of great supplies to help YOU with your pet grooming rodeo. We have clippers, scissors, combs, brushes, shampoo, conditioner, you name it. We hope you find what you need.
